Spinal Decompression
Spinal Decompression Therapy
Gentle, computer-guided care that relieves pressure, supports disc health, improves movement. At Healing Hands Chiropractic, decompression therapy is performed using the Triton M6 Decompression Table, an advanced system that allows for precise, controlled distraction of specific spinal segments while prioritizing patient comfort and safety.
This therapy is commonly used as part of a comprehensive chiropractic care plan and is always provided under clinical supervision.
Mild Disc Bulge (1-3mm)
- Localized discomfort or stiffness
- Minimal to mild nerve involvement
- Common inital range: 8-10 weeks of decompression care
Moderate Disc Bulge/Small Herniation (3-5mm)
- More persistent discomfort
- Intermittent radiating symptoms
- Common initial range: 10-14 weeks of decompression care
Larger Disc Herniation (5-7+ mm).
- Ongoing nerve irritation
- Possible numbness, tingling, or weakness
- Common initial range: 14+ weeks decompression care
Care plans are not one-size-fits-all.
Progress is monitored regularly, and recommendations are adiusted based on individual response to care, symptom changes, and functional improvement
How it works
The Triton M6 uses intermittent decompression cycles, meaning the spine is gently unloaded and relaxed in alternating phases. This approach helps minimize muscle guarding while targeting affected spinal levels. Potential therapeutic effects may include:
- Reduced mechanical pressure on spinal discs
- Improved spinal joint motion and flexibility
- Enhanced circulation to spinal tissues
- Decreased irritation of nearby nerve structures
Spinal discs rely on movement and pressure changes to exchange fluids, nutrients, and waste products. When discs are compressed or injured, this process may become impaired. Spinal decompression
I therapy is intended to reduce compressive forces within the spine, support disc hydration and nutrient exchange, and decrease mechanical stress on irritated tissues.
FAQs
Patients diagnosed with herniated discs, bulging discs, sciatica, radiculopathy, degenerative disc disease, facet syndrome, headaches, neck pain, back pain, arthritis.
Decompression of the disc creates negative pressure–a vacuum–in the disc which allows the body to reabsorb much or all of the bulging or herniated disc material.
A “nerve issue” is a disc issue. Various disc issues–bulging, herniation, inflammation, degeneration–cause nerve encroachment & irritation, resulting in symptoms of “nerve issues.”
No referral is needed for decompression therapy.
